The AT&T Performing Arts Center, a new multi-venue complex for music, opera, theater and dance, is the most significant performing arts complex to be built since Lincoln Center in New York. The Center’s primary facilities—the Winspear Opera House and the Wyly Theatre—feature breath-taking traditional and ultra-modern designs, respectively. |

The primary challenges were the concurrent site civil design and construction of two extremely high-profile buildings, two underground parking garages and the reconstruction of all the streets in the Center. Aesthetic considerations for the primary parking garage required a steeply graded, depressed entrance preceded by a pedestrian walkway that would not detract from the views from the buildings. Multiple storm drain systems, including slotted drains, were used to convey stormwater away from 18-foot below grade main entrance to the Wyly. |

The AT&T Performing Arts Center Project was designed by URS Corporation based in San Francisco, California. This project was a gold medal winner in the 2010 Texas CEC Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. |
